Challenge: WHY the innovation has been developed? What problem is addressed and why has not been not solved before?

Transformation from Heritage cities to Creative and Knowledge–based cities: the experience of 7 Model cities is presented for further replications. This booklet is dedicated to the implementation results achieved in all 7 Role Model Cities that participated in the ROCK project. The booklet gives an overview on the achievements obtained at local level through ROCK project, explaining where and how did ROCK approach step in and facilitated the upgrading process of different practices already in place. The journey through the specific actions of each city highlights both soft and technological tools that have been used to support the transformation of historic city centres and sites. Finally, a dedicated section is focused on how the ROCK role model cities faced coronavirus, capturing a short overview of the immediate impacts of the pandemic on the ROCK implementation process and the management of the crisis.

Solution: WHAT the solution is about? HOW it goes beyond the state of the art?

The ROLE MODEL CITIES Booklet developed by the ROCK project presents specific actions of each city, highlighting both soft and technological tools that have been used or tested to support the transformation of historic city centres. They are grouped under two main sections: - achievements at local level - obstacles and barriers centres and sites. A dedicated section focuses on how the ROCK role model cities faced coronavirus, capturing a short overview of the immediate impacts of the pandemic on the ROCK implementation process and the management of the crisis.

End-users and examples of uses: WHO will beneficiate/ is beneficiating from the solution? WHERE and HOW the solution has been adopted? How will impact people or end-users? Add as more as possible examples of market and society uptakes

European cities will benefit of the information, guidelines and lessons learnt gathered in the booker, in their programmes to value cultural heritage of the territory.

Future possibilities: Future market perspectives when the innovation will be fully available or in use
